TERRA provided award-winning site development services for the Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority’s (MPEA) McCormick HQ Hotel and Wintrust Arena (formerly known as the McCormick Place Events Center). The 40-story McCormick HQ Hotel includes ballrooms, conference space, guestrooms, lobbies and a restaurant. The Wintrust Arena is a multi-purpose venue for sporting events, concerts, conventions and other special events. The 10,000-plus seat facility serves as the home of the WNBA’s Chicago Sky and the DePaul University men’s and women’s basketball teams.
TERRA’s civil engineering services included the creation of construction documents with permit and construction plans and specifications. Drawing review and permits were obtained from the City of Chicago through the Department of Buildings (DOB) and City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) OUC deep foundation permit process. The project received the Chicago Building Congress’ Merit Award: New Construction over $55M.
